For her higher secondary studies, she attended Flaiz Memorial Adventist College in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. After completing her higher secondary education, Puja took a gap year at Aakash Institute, Ranchi, to prepare for medical school. During her college years, Puja participated in inter-college modeling competitions, building confidence and gaining exposure. Her first big break came when she took part in "Tribal Revolution Dhumkudiya," a tribal cultural event, marking the beginning of her professional modeling career.
Her participation in Miss Jharkhand and Supermodel competitions opened doors to bigger opportunities. Puja's transition into music also began at this stage, with her debut Kurukh language music video "Ningan Erarki," featuring popular artists like RK Bhagat.

Initially skeptical, she was encouraged by Purushottam Bhaiya, a director in the Nagpuri film industry, to participate. The competition was challenging, but Puja remained determined. She traveled to Chhattisgarh with her cousin Barkha Lakra for the three-day pageant.
